Oh, Hey There - Melissa Schroeder

Oh, Hey There

Yes, I have been in hiding. Mainly, I have been writing. I just finished up the final edits on A Santini’s Heart and I am about to turn in The Boss, the first of my new Spies, Lies, and Alibis series for Entangled Publishing. I also just plotted out At Last (cover reveal coming soon), the first Fitzpatrick, and am working on getting the plot solidified for The Enforcer, the second book in SLA series. So, I have been very busy.

I have been thinking a lot about blogging lately and just what it has done for me. I was never a huge blogger, but I have always thought it was useful device. Not only to promote, but also to educate, inform, and interact with other authors and readers. So, I have decided to go back to it. It is the one social media type of platform that authors actually OWN. Facebook, Twitter, etc, we don’t own our work on there, and it is governed by the company. Here it is controlled by the author. And let’s be honest, most authors love the idea of controlling something. Hell, most of us have built careers out of it.

One of the reasons I have decided to come back to blogging, or at least try to, springs from a conversation I had on Facebook about RWA. Many people know I am not a member and I often get people who try to entice me back. It has many advantages, but for me, it is just not something I want to do. But a new author mentioned that I could teach classes there.

Truth is, I have. I was one of the first online instructors for Passionate Ink (and one of the founding members). I just don’t have the time to deal with the stress that comes from joining a big group like that. It tends to up my pain level, and then I can’t write. And yes, if I ignored things it would be easier. But I am a big Donkey Girl Scout. If I join an organization, I believe in participating. My fault completely, but I just can’t seem to help it. But, this way, I can write up those topics here and people can get them for free.

That means, I will start some blogging topics that are mainly for writers, but some will be for readers. Also, a lot of it may be complete shit. Seriously, if you have watched my live FB videos, you know that I tend to babble on about things. Either way, I am going to take another stab at writing blogs on a regular basis.

You have been warned.

  1. I always found your blogs interesting even if they don’t pertain to me. But remember that if it gets to be too much dump it so I can get my By Blood and Clan books
