TBT: Her Mother's Killer - Melissa Schroeder

TBT: Her Mother’s Killer

I have written a lot of suspense in my books. Some Harmless books have had threads of suspense and of course, a few of the Santinis have too. Of course, my first release was Grace Under Pressure, which had a lot of mystery and suspense in it. Another one that often gets overlooked is HER MOTHER’S KILLER. It’s another Texas romantic suspense that deals with a decades old mystery and an obsession that could destroy our hero and heroine’s live.

A woman who can’t escape her past.

Althea Johnson would like to leave the past behind. The memories of her mother’s murder lurk in her dreams and someone wants her to remember. Deciding to return to the small Texas town where it took place to deal with the demons from that night.

A man who will do anything to protect her.

Duncan Perry can’t believe his best friend’s little sister has grown into such a wonderful bundle of curves. He is at first stunned by his reaction to her, but never one to be slow, he starts putting the moves on her. It isn’t until he is completely seduced by her that he realizes that she is putting herself in danger to solve the old crime.

A killer who will do anything to possess her.

As both of them fall in love with each other, the stalking and danger escalates. Women close to Althea’s description are being found raped and murdered. The new lovers work overtime to figure out just what went wrong 20 years earlier, not realizing the mysteries they will reveal could jeopardize everything they are fighting for.

“We agreed this wasn’t a good idea.”

He shook his head. “You said, not me.”

She placed her hand on his chest and he looked down at it, then back up at her. He saw it there, the passion he felt burning in his veins, speeding through his blood like fire. He knew she felt it. Her eyes darkened, her breathing increased. The noise of the TV and the guests faded in the background.

He leaned forward. She offered him no other resistance as he rubbed his mouth over hers, the barest of touch.

“We shouldn’t.”

Her voice barely registered it was so low, the denial so weak. Her breath heated his lips, her tongue dipping into his mouth.

“But we will.”

Without waiting for her response, he dipped his head and took possession of her mouth.

Every thought in Thea’s head dissolved the moment Duncan pressed her back against the wall. Sparks of energy danced along her nerve endings, her nipples tightened, her body heated. He slanted his mouth over hers, moving his hands to cup her face.

Oh, God, she wanted this, needed this. Her head was spinning as blood rushed to her groin. She shifted closer, needing to feel him, to feel his warmth, to lose herself. Her dampened panties pressed against her clit and sent another zing of heat speeding through her veins. She slipped her hands up and over his shoulders, molding her hands to the back of his head.

She throbbed. Every pore, every hormone, every fiber of her being. Tension gathered in her stomach, then slipped lower. Everything thing in her told her right now, right there.
