THE SANTINIS - Melissa Schroeder

THE SANTINIS

Well, the day has come! As many readers of this blog know, I am a military wife AND, we have less than SEVEN MONTHS UNTIL TERMINAL LEAVE.

Oh, sorry. I get a little excited by the idea of being on our own time. I get squealy when I think about it.

For years, I avoided writing military romances. I wrote a lot of prior service heroes, but the only military hero I wrote was in Forever My Love, my short story in the Operation Love collection. That was back in 2005, and I didn’t write another one until I came up with the idea for the Harmless Military books.

There is a reason for it. As a military wife, there are a lot of things about the military that are not romantic. Sure, the uniform, the service before self, and the dedication to the country…that makes for a sexy man. There is something very admirable, which makes a man or woman even sexier, for serving in the military. But, the reality is sometimes a little too much to deal with. TDYs that always seem to hit at the worst times, PCSing to places you don’t want to visit let alone live (BUGS), and answering questions from your kids like “Why is Daddy gone for so long?” and “Why do I have to leave all my friends again?” (I ask these questions too, lol)  So, writing a military romance is sometimes hard when you are in the thick of things.

The Military Harmless books changed that a little and now with our countdown to Les’ retirement I wanted to do something to commemorate our 20 years in the military. I coupled this with my desire to write more novellas.  I love novellas and they allow me to decompress after writing one of my bigger books. So, when, a family of military men popped into my head, I decided to take a plunge. I was a little overwhelmed with my health situation and needed a break after writing A Little Harmless Fantasy. So, to keep myself still writing, but not overdoing it, I decided to do a few novellas. The Santinis were my pick.

The Santinis are Marine brats. They grew up moving around and all of them entered the service, but they are in the four different services.  Each Santini Brother is stationed in places we have during Les’ career.

Each book will release in May, each Friday, starting May 3. The books will all be novellas. I am in the process of editing Leonardo’s book and writing Marco’s. The plan is to have them on preorder at Kobo, Itunes, and ARe. They are the only place I can put books on preorder:) Make sure to like The Santinis on FB so you can keep up with everything that is going on and get exclusive excerpts. Also, there is a Pinterest SANTINI page and a Leonardo Storyboard.  Each book will have their own story board.

So, without much further ado, here are the Santinis! The covers were done by Brandy Walker of Author Accomplice and seriously, if you are looking for covers, Brandy is an artist I highly recommend. The concept of the covers was hers and I think it is OUTSTANDING.

  1. I love that you are doing these books to commemorate your time in the military. Because there is no doubt about it, Les may be the active duty member, but you and the girls serve and sacrifice just as much.

  2. Wow! I love the concept and the trailer was really great! You and your whole family are to be admired for your long-time dedication to protecting this country and I am grateful for your service AND the amazing stories you tell! I can’t wait until May!

  3. You know how much I love Military men and I am so glad that you are going to feed my small obsession with the Santinis.

  4. Many members of my family have served in various branches of the military and that started my love of military personnel. Then I did my medical laboratory clinicals at the local Air Force Base and after working with the men and women there for the 6 months of my training I came to appreciate them even more. Stories with military heros are always going to be on the top of my list. I’m really looking forward to reading about the Santori family!

  5. May is going to be one hot month – looking forward to meeting the Santinis and reading their stories <3
