The Bavarian Chef - Melissa Schroeder

The Bavarian Chef

So, as many of you know I do not have a real kitchen at the moment. I have an area that pretends to be one. It has a stove, fridge, etc, but well, there isn’t much room and apparently, they don’t use as many utensils as I do to cook. I am being patient because this is what I have waiting for me:

kitchenYeah, I can’t wait. Double oven and gas cooktop, huzzah! But until the first week of November, I have to make do with the pretend kitchen. Of course, with my love of eating out, I do have something to talk about, lol.

When we lived in the area before, I had always wanted to go to this little German place called The Bavarian Chef. It is just about 20 miles North of Charlottesville on Rt 29. They have also added another place in Fredericksburg. We just never seemed to find the time to go when we lived here before. Now, though, I had made USA Today twice and I figured I deserved to splurge.

I grew up in Germany and love the food, especially schnitzel. I went for the Wiener Schnitzel, although I almost picked the special of the night, Alpine Schnitzel. Still though, it was yummy and it was a nice night out with my guy. The food was authentic and the portions were HUGE. Sides were served family style, meaning if you run out out of them, they bring you more. Les got the sausage plate which was wonderful as was the red cabbage he got. The food was yummy and the service was very good.
